Why Dieting Doesn’t Work
In the diet world today, it’s difficult to know what to believe. But with dieting, itself, we often lose sight of our internal hunger and fullness cues. If
you’re trying to lose weight through a diet, often times you are consuming too few calories and not providing your body with enough energy to sustain itself. So the result is to “fall off the wagon” and eat everything you were denying yourself and then some. This leads to more weight gain and the cycle begins again. So the key here is that dieting DOES NOT work.
What DOES work is balancing food and exercise. For a healthy eating lifestyle, behavioral changes have to happen. This means introducing or increasing activity and being aware of what you are eating. The key with healthful eating is watching portions. When weight loss is a goal, finding a balance between intake and output is the key. For weight loss, there needs to be an increase in activity, a decrease in dietary fat and sugar and understanding what a portion looks like. Most diets will have you count calories, which can be an overwhelming and endless task that typically, is a short lived behavior. Eventually, you get tired of counting calories and just give up. The TK Family Plan is different in that you won’t be counting calories. What you will do is be aware of portion sizes and food groups. This is the key. This allows you to gain knowledge that can be applied anywhere you eat, inside your home or out at a restaurant.
